This exclusive Japanese whisky stands as one of two collaborative bottling projects between Hombo Shuzo and Venture Whisky, which was discreetly initiated back in 2015. Six years ago, a unique exchange of casks took place, followed by their storage for aging within their respective cellars. The outcome of this endeavor has led to the unveiling of two distinct blended malt expressions: Ichiro's Malt Double Distilleries 2021 Chichibu X Komagatake and Mars Whisky Malt Duo Komagatake X Chichibu 2021.
The fruit of this partnership manifests as two 100% Japanese blended malt whiskies, jointly presented by Kasuto Hombo and Ichiro Akuto. This particular bottling is an exclusive release from the Shinshu Mars Distillery, combining malt sourced from the "Komagatake" and "Chichibu" distilleries. The maturation process occurred at the Mars Shinshu Distillery, utilizing a diverse array of casks, including Bourbon Barrels, American White Oak, and Sherry Oak, for a duration exceeding five years.
The production of each malt has been deliberately limited, with just over 10,000 bottles created for each expression. This rarity, coupled with the unique collaborative approach and the distinguished craftsmanship of both distilleries, underscores the exceptional character of these offerings.
