The Double Distilleries pure malt whisky is a harmonious fusion of malted spirits originating from both the shuttered Hanyu and the newly established Chichibu distilleries. Rooted in a legacy steeped in sake production dating back to the 17th century, the Akuto family managed the Hanyu distillery until 2000. Regrettably, financial challenges silenced the distillery, leading to its eventual dismantling in 2004 under new ownership.

Bottled at a strength of 46%, this pure malt whisky finds its maturation, blending, and bottling process conducted at Ichiro Akuto's Chichibu distillery. The synergy of these two distilleries, each with its own narrative, culminates in a whisky that encapsulates both history and innovation, underpinned by the Akuto family's unwavering commitment to craftsmanship.

Nose:

Plenty of oak with sweet aromas and slightly floral. Green fruits take the lead of pears and apples.

Taste:

More green fruits and sweetness with plenty of oak. Some spices of nutmeg and cinnamon. The mouthfeel does have a soapy effect.

Finish: Lots of sweet spices, plenty of drying oak, liquorice, and creamy mint ice cream.
