This represents the inaugural release of Suntory Royal, crafted to commemorate the company's 60th anniversary in 1959.
Originally introduced during the 1960s to honor Suntory's 60th anniversary, this specific bottling was produced much more recently at the Yamazaki Distillery through the process of distillation and vatting.
Suntory holds a revered status as a pioneer in the realm of Japanese whisky, tracing its origins to 1899 when Shinjirō Torii established a wine store in Osaka. The enterprise achieved remarkable success, leading to a name change to Kotobukiya in 1921, followed by the establishment of its initial distillery, Yamazaki, three years later. This distillery produced both malt and grain whiskies, which were ingeniously blended together. In 1929, the company unveiled its inaugural Suntory White Label expression, which gained immense popularity and ultimately led to the renaming of the company in 1963. Over the ensuing decade, Suntory expanded its operations by shifting grain production to the newly established Chita distillery in 1972 and inaugurating a second malt distillery, Hakushu, in the subsequent year. Presently, Suntory maintains a significant presence within the bourbon and Scotch whisky sectors, while also continuing to occupy a prominent position within the domestic Japanese whisky market.
