The inaugural release of The Harmony Collection, known as "Rich Cacao," is a single malt whisky that resulted from a collaboration between The Macallan and renowned Spanish chef and chocolatier, Jordi Roca of Casa Cacao and El Celler de Can Roca. The exquisite chocolates crafted at Casa Cacao served as the inspiration for Macallan Whisky Maker, Polly Logan. Driven by this inspiration, she meticulously combed through Macallan's maturing whiskies, seeking those with decadent chocolate notes. Her aim was to create a whisky that encapsulated the essence of the flavors she encountered at Casa Cacao.
To pay homage to the profound influence of chocolate, The Macallan Harmony Collection Rich Cacao is presented in a gift box that is not only elegant but also 100% recyclable. This eco-friendly packaging is fashioned from cacao pod husks, embodying a sustainable approach.
The whisky itself is an artful blend of ex-European sherry and American oak casks, expertly harmonized to harmonize with rich chocolate. On the nose, one is greeted with enticing aromas of chocolate fondant, honey, and oak. These notes transition onto the palate, revealing more layers of dark chocolate, honey, vanilla, and a hint of cinnamon. The experience culminates in a lengthy finish that boasts the luxurious richness of chocolate.
