Continuing in the footsteps of Octomore 13.1, the Octomore 13.2 edition shares a similar journey. Distilled exclusively from 100% Scottish-grown Concerto barley, malted to an astonishing 137.3 phenol parts per million (PPM), this release offers a harmonious marriage of peat and sherry influence. The focus on the Concerto barley ensures consistency between the two editions while enabling enthusiasts to appreciate the contrasting impact of the maturation process.

For this particular expression, the entirety of the maturation took place in first-fill Oloroso sherry butts sourced from Jerez, Spain. This decision presents a unique opportunity to delve into a side-by-side comparison of the two spirits, where the rich sherry influence elegantly harmonizes with the peat and vibrancy characteristic of the single malt.

Bruichladdich's careful cask selection extends to the choice of Oloroso sherry butts, which were acquired from Fernando de Castilla in Jerez, Spain. These casks had previously cradled Oloroso sherry that adheres to the same guiding principles upheld at Bruichladdich Distillery. The casks' importance in shaping the Octomore 13.2's character cannot be understated, as Head Distiller Adam Hannett highlights the unique attributes they contribute: "There's a beautiful influence from the full-term maturation in these first-fill Oloroso sherry butts. They've matured in the dunnage warehouses in the village of Port Charlotte, and the combination of cask and a slow and cold maturation has really accentuated the salty tang of the spirit."

With an alcohol by volume (ABV) of 58.3%, this expression captures the essence of the Octomore series' boldness. Remaining true to the distillery's commitment to authenticity, the Octomore 13.2 is bottled non-chillfiltered and without any added color, allowing enthusiasts to experience the whisky in its purest form.

Palate:

Dense and oily, smoked almonds, toasted macadamias, orange marmalade, dried stone fruits and soft smoke.

Finish:

A long smoky memorable finish with sea salt and chocolate coated nuts.
